Trevor Ault is a national correspondent for ABC News, based in New
York City. His reports can be seen across multiple ABC News programs,
including “Good Morning America,” “World News Tonight with David
Muir,” “Nightline,” “20/20,” ABC News Live and the ABC News
podcast “Start Here.”

Ault served as a lead correspondent through the COVID-19 pandemic,
appearing at some of the first White House coronavirus briefings,
where he pressed former President Trump and Dr. Anthony Fauci about
the spread of the virus and insufficient PPE for healthcare workers.
He also embedded with medical teams inside some of the hardest-hit
hospitals in the country, documenting conditions inside overwhelmed
intensive care units.

He has reported extensively on domestic civil unrest, including live
reports feet away from police tearing down pro-Palestinian encampments
on the UCLA campus and amid tense racial justice protests across the
country. His work during the George Floyd demonstrations in Manhattan
contributed to ABC News’ Edward R. Murrow Award-winning breaking
news coverage.

Ault reported from the steps of the Pennsylvania state capitol during
the first Stop the Steal demonstrations and has frequently anchored
ABC News Live coverage during monumental political events, including
the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

Ault has been on air in the middle of devastating natural disasters,
including hurricanes, blizzards, flash floods and heat waves. He’s
provided on-the-ground reporting in the immediate aftermath of
multiple mass shootings, including Oxford High School in Michigan,
leading coverage for two years, culminating in the conviction of the
first parents held criminally responsible for their child’s school
shooting.

His work has shed light on the suicide epidemic in Wyoming, the impact
of the death penalty through the eyes of Boston Marathon bombing
victims, and the often dangerous interactions between police and the
mentally ill.

Before joining ABC News, Ault worked as a reporter and anchor for
KOIN-TVin Portland, Oregon, where he went undercover reporting on
underground street racing groups. He began his career at WTOL-TV in
his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. He graduated with a degree in
communications from Defiance College and has a master’s degree in
broadcast and digital journalism from Syracuse University. He
currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
